Josh Lock joined SWA in 2007 as a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. With more than 17 years of experience in the field, Josh has primarily served in the role of construction observation and management. Josh brings technical expertise into the design process, getting involved early on with the project team as concepts are being developed. Working closely with talented design minds, he focuses on managing the accuracy of the documents and constructability of the details that are ultimately used to build projects. Josh encourages younger staff to join project site visits to help them connect with their projects and share the satisfaction of seeing their realized work. His project experience has included commercial, resort, corporate campuses, native restoration, master-planned communities, urban parks, and pedestrian connectivity and trail projects. Working on a wide range of project types has been beneficial to Josh’s professional growth by ensuring that he continues to learn and develop as a Landscape Architect.
